Séamus McCormack has developed curatorial projects both in Ireland and the UK including at Luan Gallery, Athlone; ArtBox, Dublin; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; The Bomb Factory, London; Lewisham Arthouse London and upcoming projects at The LAB, Dublin; Swiss Cottage Gallery, London; Lismore Castle Arts and Commonage, London a project space he has developed.
He is Programme Curator, New Contemporaries and was previously Assistant Curator at both the Whitechapel Gallery and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, working on group exhibitions such as ‘Electronic Superhighway’; ‘Intellectual Barbarians: The Kibbo Kift Kindred’; ‘Primal Architecture’; ‘Traces’ and solo shows with artists including Christopher Williams, Willie Doherty, Haroon Mirza, Harun Farocki and Alice Maher.
He has written on the work and interviewed artists including Paul Sharits, Jonas Lund, Ulla Wiggen, Janine Davidson, Anika Roach, Ned Armstrong, Elaine Leader and David Eager Maher. Programming symposia such as ‘Archives & Identities’; ‘Sounding out Practice’ and ‘Writing into Practice’ he has also led workshops and talks at the RHA, Dublin; South London Gallery and Leeds Art Gallery and has been a visiting tutor at Slade UCL, Oxford Brookes and Leeds Beckett University.
